Philosophy:
The objective of Hill Pride lacrosse is to develop the individual both athletically as a lacrosse player and personally as a growing and maturing student-athlete. The Hill Pride Lacrosse program follows that of top university programs by implementing 4 hours per week of on field training, a lacrosse specific strength and conditioning program, and participation in high calibre game play.
Hill Pride lacrosse players receive one of a kind training that cannot be received anywhere else. The Hill stands out from other private school programs by providing year-round on and off field training. While a typical private school lacrosse player is not playing until the spring time, a Hill Pride lacrosse player is playing and practicing during the entire school year, giving them the attention and focus that is unique to only The Hill Academy.
It is our expectation that all students in The Hill Academy lacrosse program are committed and dedicated to achieving both academically and athletically. The ultimate goal of The Hill Pride lacrosse program is to have athletes attend university and play lacrosse while attending university. Currently The Hill Academy has alumni attending and playing lacrosse at Canadian universities as well as American NCAA schools at the Division I, II, and III levels.
The Hill Academy recruits players that are first and foremost quality people. A Hill Academy prospective student-athlete will be examined for academic, athletic, and personal qualities, all which will be taken into consideration in the admissions process. We don’t necessarily look for all-star athletes, rather all-star attitudes!!
University/College Recruiting:
As mentioned before, the ultimate goal of The Hill Academy lacrosse program is to send student-athletes to the next level beyond the Hill, which is university lacrosse. The Hill Academy coaching staff is very focused on reaching out to university programs that best fit the student-athletes of the program. One of the main focuses of The Hill is to create as much exposure as possible to the NCAA for student-athletes. With athletes committed to schools such as Hofstra University, Johns Hopkins University, and Georgetown University, The Hill Academy is quickly becoming known as the premiere development program for lacrosse athletes in the world.
Specialized Skill Development:
“Preparation breeds confidence.” By implementing and repeating specialized skill development at lacrosse practice throughout the school year, Hill Pride lacrosse players are properly prepared to use their refined skills in game situations. The Hill Pride program believes in creating the “hybrid” lacrosse player which focuses on linking the disciplines of box lacrosse and field lacrosse to create a more complete player.

Hill Lacrosse Director
Brodie Merrill

Brodie Merrill is widely regarded as a revolutionary lacrosse player. Brodie, a graduate of Georgetown University, was a two time All American, Two-Time Teewaraton Award Finalist and in 2005 was named the NCAA Defensive Player of the Year. Brodie has revolutionized how people treat the defensive player in both box and field, with his run and gun transitional style. He has won multiple awards in his four year professional career including 2005 NLL and MLL Rookie of the Year, 2005 NLL Defensive Player of the Year, 2006 through 2009 MLL Defensive Player of the Year. Brodie, who currently plays for the Toronto Nationals in the MLL and Edmonton Rush in the NLL, has also won two Mann Cups, World Field Lacrosse Championship, World Box Lacrosse Championship and recently won the MLL Championship.
Brodie has recently been named to the Canadian National Lacrosse team which will compete in the World Championships in July of 2010. Brodie is the head coach of the Hill Academy Men’s Lacrosse team which is highly regarded as one of the top Lacrosse programs in North America. Over the past four seasons The Hill Lacrosse program has had countless players move on to university including a number of players who have received scholarships to U.S. schools.

Defensive Coordinator: Patrick Merrill
Patrick is known for his tenacious defensive play. A graduate of Mercyhurst College, Patrick was a first overall draft pick by the Toronto Rock of the NLL where he won two National League Championships. Patrick also plays for the Brampton Excelsior’s where he has won the Mann Cup three times. Patrick currently plays for the Orlando Titans in the NLL where he continues to enjoy a lot of success.
Patrick is a key member of The Hill Lacrosse program where he instils discipline and continues to push the players to new heights. He is going into his fourth season as Defensive Coordinator and always demands hard work out of his players.

Offensive coordinator: Brice Queener
A graduate of Georgetown University, Brice was a four year starter. He has extensive coaching experience including stops at Binghamton University and Sienna University both of which he was a key member in coaching the lacrosse team and recruiting future players. Brice played professionally in the MLL for the Rochester Rattlers.
Brice is in his first year at The Hill and brings a lot to the table; with his knowledge on and off the field Brice has been an excellent addition to the staff.
