Pride Lacrosse Goes 4-0 At UP Showcase

The Hill Pride lacrosse team finished out its fall schedule with a 4 victory at the UP Lacrosse Fall Showcase. The tournament was re-scheduled after a heavy rainfall on Friday night, which gave the Pride four twenty-minute games. The disappointed squad still took advantage of their opportunities and handily won all four of their games.

Game one had the squad from Kleinburg take on the club team Madlax from Maryland. The Pride earned a shutout on some great work from Cam Watts with a 9-0 victory. Greg Harnett was great out the back end while the attack controlled the ball.

Game two had the Pride challenge the host team from Severn. The Pride dominated this game from start to finish and ended with a 9-1 victory. Dillon Ward was great in the pipes as was Matt Mackenzie on the draw. Zach Palmer, Jeremy Noble and Deron Dempster were impressive on attack and controlled the play.

Game three and four switched venues to Broadneck high school where the Pride were scheduled to take on Don Bosco and Headstrong, another undefeated team. The Pride handled Don Bosco quite handily and finished with a 11-3 final before setting there sights on the 3-0 all star team from Pennsylvania, Headstrong. The team saw its first real challenge in this game even though they finished with a 9-4 victory. The game was hard fought and physical, and was a great game for any college coaches to observe.

The Hill Lacrosse program now switches its focus to a more individual stream. The coaches have planned some individual skill development plans and will work on the complete hybrid player. The Hill Pride coaching staff will be at the Open House next Wednesday November 26, 2008 at 6PM at the Cornerstone Church.
