This past weekend, The Hill Prep team travelled to Lake Placid to compete in the Northwood Ice Hockey Invitational.
They started the tournament with a win against Wyoming Seminary and followed that game with a win against the Northwood School's midget team. On Saturday they completed a 3-0 round robin with a win against Valley Forge.
On the Saturday night the boys and their families took a break from the arena to gain a real Lake Placid experience and attended the world ski jumping championships.
On Sunday, the Hill Prep team played in a quater-final mini game against Cegep Ste-Foye from Quebec. The game ended in an exciting 2 on 2 double overtime after Mike Panowyk scored the winner with a wrist shot from the high slot.
This very exciting weekend in Lake Placid was brought to an end on Sunday, after losing 3-1 to Stansted in the semi-finals.
The team was plagued by injuries and illnesses over the weekend but managed to put together strong efforts with a short bench.
As well as being the Director of Hockey at the Hill Academy, Lindsay is currently the the Director of Scouting for the London Knights and the owner of world renowned Pro Hockey Development Group. Having coached for six years in the CHL with the London Knights and the Lethbridge Hurricanes, Hofford brings a wealth of experience to the Hill. He had an instrumental part in guiding the London Knights to three straight playoff appearances. With Lethbridge, Coach Hofford led the team to its highest winning percentage in ten years. Players such as Rick Nash, Brent Seabrook, Corey Perry, Kris Vesteeg and over 100 other NHL members have played or trained with Coach Hoffard.
Coach Hofford holds Political Science and Sociology Degrees from the University of Guelph. He has owned and operated Pro Hockey Development for the last eighteen years. Lindsay is well-known within the hockey community as a motivational and innovative coach who is committed to teaching, communication and development. He is currently in his fifth year as leader of the Men’s Hockey Program at the Hill Academy.
