This is a full time position reporting to the Principal. As part of the Academic Leadership Team, the Vice Principal (VP) Senior School works to support and implement the academic strategic direction within the Senior School while managing the operational aspects of daily school life.
Start Date: July 1, 2021
Contract: Full-Time
Specific Responsibilities:

A contributing member of the Academic Leadership Team working to support and implement the school’s strategic directions and the Senior School’s goals and operation
-
Creates a safe, nurturing and encouraging environment for all students that promotes Highest Level of Achievement, Individual support and responsibility, Leadership development and Legacy
-
Implementing and leads policies for student accountability and safety. When necessary leads a fair investigation and discipline process including the development of restorative practices and alternative dispute resolution systems
-
Meets regularly with the Head of Boarding on student matters pertaining to the Code of Conduct and student well-being
-
Manages faculty absences and the creation of a supervision schedule

Collaborates with the Academic team to build a timetable

Liaises with the Director of Athletics or General Managers to problem solve scheduling issues

Leads the development and review of policies, and procedures outlined in the Code of Conduct and the Student Handbook

Supports the Principal with faculty growth and development

Responds to and manages parent inquiries and/or concerns
-
Collaborates with the VP Junior School around operational issues

Participates in the admissions process as required by the Principal

Values and engages in professional learning
-
Other related responsibilities as assigned by the Principal
Skills, Experience and Attributes:
-
A degree in Education and/or Principal’s Qualifications
-
An experienced educator with minimum three years’ experience including a proven record of outstanding achievement as a classroom teacher
-
Experience with boarding is a valued asset
-
Experience as department head, coordinator and/or consultant is an asset
-
An Ontario College of Teachers Certificate is an asset.

Evidence of successful leadership experiences including success in team building and the development of positive working relationships.

A deep understanding of the processes of teaching and learning within the framework of the co-curricular program of a school.

Student disciplinary/misconduct management experience, including parent engagement and support.
-
A highly engaging and visible style in dealing with students and parents to ensure outstanding rapport with the community.

An equity mindset and a commitment to inclusive and anti-racist practices.
-
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to encourage others to develop their own capabilities in these areas.

Uses a collaborative leadership approach with coaching and mentoring practices.

Able to respond with care and concern, make wise decisions in complex situations, and partner with other members of the academic leadership team.

Superior organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
