K-4 Newsletter 09.15.24

September 15, 2024

Dear Hill Community,

In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to become focused on our own needs and schedules. However, it’s important to remember the value of patience and consideration for those around us. Whether in the classroom, at work, or in our daily interactions, taking a moment to think about others’ perspectives can create a more compassionate and understanding environment.

By practicing patience and showing empathy, we can make a positive impact on our community, ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported. Let’s continue to foster a culture where kindness and thoughtfulness guide our actions.

Thank you for your commitment to making The Hill a place where everyone thrives.

Casey Kirkpatrick

Labeling Uniforms and Sporting Equipment

To help us keep our students' belongings organized and reduce the chances of lost items, we kindly ask that all uniforms and sporting equipment be clearly labelled with your child’s name. With so many students using similar items, labelling ensures that misplaced belongings can be easily identified and returned. This small step goes a long way in fostering responsibility and ensuring that your child is prepared for their school day and activities.

We are holding a school wide event on September 25th to honour the late Terry Fox, a Canadian legend. Terry always strived for his highest level of achievement, exemplified by his pledge to run across Canada after being diagnosed with cancer.

Terry's independent thought was to take the initiative and stand up to cancer to run for all kids to help make their lives better. As a leader, Terry acted as a role model for people around the world, showing nothing could hold you back. Finally, the legacy that Terry has on the nation is exempt for what an amazing person he was and what he stood for. To support his goals, donate to the Terry Fox Foundation using the link and instructions below.

  • Available in size small; Long sleeves, polos, shorts and joggers.

  • Available in extra small: tees, polos and hoodies

If you have all your uniform items, please ensure your student-athlete is dressed in Hill attire each day.

Kindergarten Kiss & Ride

Please take a moment to review and follow our Kiss & Ride procedures to help reduce congestion during drop off and pick up, and most importantly, to increase safety for our students.

All families should be utilizing the cul-de-sac as a designated Kiss & Ride zone. When you are the first car at the gravel road, please assist your child out of the car (if needed) as quickly as possible and then move along to keep the line flowing smoothly for others.

Please note, no families should park and walk their children to the educators. This procedure is designed to ensure the safety of all students, and we appreciate your cooperation and patience as we all adjust to this routine.

In the event of unsafe weather conditions, such as heavy rain or extreme cold, we will notify you with alternative drop off/pick up instructions at the cabin.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
