Hill Prep Hockey
The Hill Academy Prep Hockey Program is meticulously designed to enhance individual skill development and provide players with a positive skill-building environment that emphasizes hard work, development, discipline, and fun. The Hill Prep Hockey program is designed to best prepare our players for the next level while providing OHL, USHL, BCHL, and NCAA exposure and opportunities.
We provide a safe and educational learning environment while making our players accountable for their actions both on and off the ice. The Hill Prep Hockey Program provides a rigorous and elite level, school year round schedule with daily practices with professional level coaches.
The Hill Academy attracts players that are first and foremost quality people. A Hill Academy prospective student-athlete will be examined for academic, athletic, and personal qualities, all which will be taken into consideration in the admissions process.
Hill Varsity Hockey
The Varsity Hockey Program at The Hill is based primarily around skill development. As opposed to our U16 and U18 Prep programs, which are team based, Varsity players continue to play for the minor hockey association teams that they belong to.
It is a complete on and off ice development program which includes on ice sessions with professional skills experts and off ice information sessions with sport and industry leaders.
In addition, the Varsity Program participates as a team to represent The Hill Academy at various tournaments around the GTA. We do our best to ensure that these games do not conflict with their minor hockey schedules.
Hill Girls Hockey
This program is specifically designed to enhance the development of female hockey players born between 2009 and 2005 and will run as a girls development program. Female hockey players are now being recruited at the university level as early as the Bantam level and the Hill Academy program allows players to be better prepared on and off the ice for the upcoming opportunities that will be presented to them.
The Hill program is able to have the three main aspects of a student-athletes experience (on-ice development, off ice training and academics) work in conjunction with each other while providing the athlete proper time for rest and recovery so they are able to maximize each session or class to reach their full potential.
HOCKEY COACHING STAFF
This will be Brett's 6th year as a member of the Hill Academy hockey program. After an impressive playing career, we are proud to have Brett MacLean as the General Manager of Varsity Hockey. Brett was the 1st round pick of the 2004 OHL draft. He played 245 games between the Erie Otter and Oshawa Generals and recorded 288 points in 245 OHL games including a league leading 61 goals in 2007-2008. Brett was a 2nd round NHL pick to the Phoenix Coyotes and played at the professional level for four years. After being forced to retire early because of a heart condition, Brett has been involved in skill development for the past 10 years. In that time Brett has worked with players from age 10 all the way up to the NHL as well as working with members of the 2022 Team Canada women's Olympic team to help them find areas of improvement in their game.
