The Hill Academy Hockey Department is dedicated to enabling our student-athletes to reach their highest level of achievement. Whether the goal is to reach the post-secondary, national, international, or professional level, our staff is committed to developing a strong foundation, which will be the springboard for future success.

Hill Hockey incorporates intensive on-ice training and skill development, leading strength and conditioning, professional level coaching, sports psychology and team building sessions, all in an academic environment in which a student-athlete can thrive.

OUR PROGRAMS

Boys U18 Prep Hockey (Grades 10-PG)

Our boys U18 prep hockey program offers hockey players the opportunity to play at the best prep tournaments and showcases all while being seen by NCAA, CHL, BCHL and USHL scouts. With daily practices and a consistent game schedule against other high end prep school programs we provide the right circumstances for players to develop their abilities and reach higher levels post graduation.This program includes various skills and skating sessions with a more targeted approach on the development of the most important aspects of the game. This works hand-in-hand with our strength and conditioning programs which are sport specific and develop our athletes to their full physical potential.Placement after graduation is a defining aspect of this program as our strong education platform combined with our outside connections opens numerous doors for our hockey players. 

Girls U22 Prep Hockey (Grades 10-PG)

Our program offers hockey players the opportunity to play at the best prep tournaments and showcases all while being seen by NCAA, ACHA and Usport Recruiters. With daily practices and a consistent game schedule against other high end prep school programs we provide the right circumstances for players to develop their abilities and reach higher levels post graduation.

This program includes various skills and skating sessions with a more targeted approach on the development of the most important aspects of the game. This works hand-in-hand with our strength and conditioning programs which are sport specific and develop our athletes to their full physical potential.

Placement after graduation is a defining aspect of this program as our strong academic platform combined with our outside connections opens numerous doors for our hockey players. 

Boys U16 AAA Hockey (Grades 9-10)

Our boys U-16 AAA hockey program offers hockey players the opportunity to play at the best U16 tournaments  and showcases across Canada and the USA. Our U16 team will receive maximum exposure by being put into positions to be seen by NCAA, CHL, and USHL scouts. With daily practices and a consistent game schedule against other high end prep school programs we provide the right circumstances for players to develop their abilities and graduate to their next level whether that be with our U-18 prep team or the OHL/USHL.

This program includes various skills and skating sessions with a more targeted approach on the development of the most important aspects of the game. This works hand and hand with our strength and conditioning programs which are sport specific and develop our athletes to their full physical potential.

Players on the U16 team may have the opportunity to play in select games for the Prep U18 team during the seasons.

Boys U14 AAA Hockey (Grade 8)

Our boys U-14 AAA hockey program offers hockey players the best development program in North America. The focus of the program is to give each student the best opportunity to maximize growth and development while competing again with the best U14 programs across North America.  With practices and strength training schedule through the day, it will allow our students more time for rest, recovery and growth. Our focus is on assisting these student athletes through a 3-5 year development program, graduating to our U15 & U16 teams. We also provide exposure and information to all development pathways, guiding each student to make the best decision possible for them. 

This program includes various skills and skating sessions with a more targeted approach on the development of the most important aspects of the game. This works hand and hand with our strength and conditioning programs which are sport specific and develop our athletes to their full physical potential.

Senior Development Hockey Program (Grades 9-PG) *program is co-ed

The senior development program gives our grade 9-PG student-athletes the chance to incorporate hockey development into their school days and do-away with various on-ice skills/skating sessions after school hours. Alongside these school-day incorporated on-ice sessions, our strength and conditioning team puts together extensive workout plans to develop the physical aspects of our younger student athletes at the appropriate rates. This program allows for players to compete on their own individual club teams throughout the season while taking part in our yearlong development plan.

Junior Development Hockey Program (Grades 7-8) *program is co-ed

The junior development program gives our grade 7-8 student-athletes the chance to incorporate hockey development into their school days and do-away with various on-ice skills/skating sessions after school hours. Alongside these school-day incorporated on-ice sessions, our strength and conditioning team puts together extensive workout plans to develop the physical aspects of our younger student athletes at the appropriate rates. This program allows for players to compete on their own individual club teams throughout the season while taking part in our yearlong development plan.

Grade 5-6 Hockey Development Program *program is co-ed

Brett MacLean

General Manager - Hockey

This will be Brett's 7th year as a member of the Hill Academy hockey program. After an impressive playing career, we are proud to have Brett MacLean as the General Manager of The Hill Hockey program. ​Brett was the 1st round pick of the 2004 OHL draft. He played 245 games between the Erie Otter and Oshawa Generals and recorded 288 points in 245 OHL games including a league leading 61 goals in 2007-2008. Brett was a 2nd round NHL pick to the Phoenix Coyotes and played at the professional level for four years. After being forced to retire early because of a heart condition, Brett has been involved in skill development for the past 10 years. In that time Brett has worked with players from age 8 all the way up to the NHL as well as working with members of the 2022 Team Canada women's Olympic team to help them find areas of improvement in their game.

Travis Wight

Head Coach Prep Hockey

This is Travis’ eleventh year as a senior school teacher and coach for the prep hockey team. He is a graduate of the University of Maine where he played NCAA Division I hockey. During that time the Black Bears competed in 2 Frozen Fours, losing 1-0 in the national championship to Denver in 2004. After graduation Travis went on to play 8 years of professional hockey in North America and Europe. During his professional playing career Travis was also able to complete his master’s degree in education.

Brett Robinson

Assistant Coach U18 Hockey

& Skill Development Coach

Brett has an extensive and impressive hockey background. Brett received a NCAA Division 1 scholarship to Mercyhurst University. He played 4 seasons with the Lakers and graduated with a BA in Sport Business.

 

After graduating Brett went on to play more then 500 games professionally throughout his 10-year career across the United States and Europe. Brett has a strong desire to teach and develop future players.

 

The past 3 years Brett has focused on coaching and high-level on-ice skill development for athletes of all ages, including NHL, NCAA, OHL and Jr.A players.

Corey Williamson

Director of Girls Hockey

The Hill Academy would like to introduce Corey Williamson, our new Director of Girls Hockey. As the Director of Girls Hockey, Corey looks forward to building an environment of elite skill development and play, alongside The Hill's already top level boy's program.


Currently Corey is an assistant coach and head recruiter for The University of New Brunswick. He was with Brock University’s women’s hockey program for 6 years as assistant coach and lead recruiter. Corey is a certified HIGH PERFORMANCE TWO COACH with Hockey Canada.

John Siskos

Head Coach

Senior Development

After growing up and playing hockey in his hometown, Coach John moved on to play for both the Markham Majors and Vaughan Kings of the GTHL. He played six seasons with both teams which eventually led to a brief stint with the Vaughan Vipers of the OJHL. During his playing time, Coach John was drafted to the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League in 2010 and named to the GTHL Midget All-Star Team in 2012.

 

After playing, Coach John has dedicated his time to teaching both on and off the ice. Most notably, he has obtained his B.Ed. degree from Western University and has started his own elite hockey development school called North South Hockey which operates in the Caledon area. In addition, Coach John has had many successful coaching positions including:

 

Through this, Coach John is excited to be a part of a coaching staff that strives to enhance the capabilities of young hockey players both on and off the ice.

Ryan Toomey

Director, Hill Junior School Hockey Recruitment & Development

Ryan brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and experience. He played his minor hockey in the GTHL and played JR A for the Wexford Raiders and Cornwall Colts. From there he received a Division 1 scholarship to Mercyhurst University where he served as team Captain in his last two seasons and was part of the Atlantic Hockey All Academic Team. Ryan went on to play pro in various cities throughout the United States and also played in Finland before finishing his professional career in Germany.

Since his playing days he has developed players of all different ages. He trains many NHL, OHL and NCAA players both on and off the ice during the summer months. 

His understanding of the game allows him to pass along his experiences and he takes pride in helping players become their best, both on the ice and away from the arenas.
