A New Chapter: Campus Expansion Introduces The Lakehouse

Caledon, ON - June 5, 2026 - As The Hill Academy prepares to celebrate its milestone 20th anniversary, the world-renowned institution for student-athletes has officially broken ground on its latest campus expansion. Renovations are officially underway on The Lakehouse, a premier, dedicated primary-years learning environment scheduled to welcome students in Grades 1, 2, and 3 for the 2026–27 academic school year this September.

Located on The Hill Academy’s sprawling 134-acre forested Caledon campus, The Lakehouse sits just steps from the Main Building. Overlooking the scenic McCallum’s Pond with sweeping views of the Niagara Escarpment, the state-of-the-art facility is being constructed by premium local partner Caledon Build.

The reimagined space is architecturally designed to blend indoor learning with the campus's natural landscape, featuring:

• Three expansive classrooms positioning nature as a third teacher

• A dedicated, specialized gym and flexible athletic space

• A custom primary cubby and transition area

• Dedicated administrative offices and restroom facilities

Fostering a Lifelong Love of Sport

The Lakehouse establishes a seamless physical and developmental pathway for young student-athletes on the Caledon campus, charting a clear journey from the early days in the Kindergarten Cabin, graduating to The Lakehouse, and ultimately transitioning into the Main Building for upper years.

By introducing a dedicated primary gym facility, The Hill Academy reinforces its foundational philosophy that "sport is a laboratory for life," targeting physical literacy at the most critical stages of youth development.

"Our school has grown tremendously since moving to the Caledon Campus. In just the past three years, we have expanded to offer Kindergarten through Grade 4," says Casey Kirkpatrick, Vice Principal, K-3. "As we celebrate our twentieth year, it is incredibly exciting to continue that growth by creating dedicated spaces for our primary-aged student-athletes."

The Hill Academy’s model of combining academics with athletics, deliberately departs from early athletic specialization, utilizing the new facility to build diverse, adaptable athletic foundations. The sport specialization, which The Hill Academy is widely known for, would naturally come into play for student-athletes as they mature. 

"At this foundational age, multi-sport exposure is absolutely essential," says Drazen Glisic, Director of Athlete Performance. "Through daily physical education in a space designed specifically for them, we are fostering fundamental physical literacy. We are priming these student-athletes to excel when they later choose a sport, while simultaneously building a lifelong love for movement, adaptation, and play."

Community Integration and Inspiration

Though distinct in its daily operations, The Lakehouse is strategically integrated into the wider campus ecosystem. Primary students will have organic opportunities to connect with and draw inspiration from The Hill’s elite, upper-year student-athletes who are actively preparing for the NCAA, U Sports, and Junior Hockey ranks.

As a commuter-based program for all pre-high school grades (boarding available in High School), enrollment efforts are focused on local families within the Caledon, Orangeville, Dufferin, Peel and surrounding Halton/Wellington regions.

Construction is proceeding on schedule for a September 2026 opening. Due to cohort caps designed to maintain small class sizes and elite student-to-coach ratios, limited spaces remain in the Primary grades for the upcoming school year.
