Brodie Merrill Inducted Into National Lacrosse Hall of Fame

Caledon, ON — [January 11, 2025] — The Hill Academy is extremely proud to congratulate Athletic Director and lacrosse icon, Brodie Merrill, on his induction into the National Lacrosse Hall of Fame. This prestigious honour recognizes Brodie's outstanding contributions to the sport as a player, mentor, innovator and leader over an expansive quarter-century career.

 

A Canadian lacrosse legend, Brodie's achievements span professional leagues, international competitions, and now the Hall of Fame. His leadership and skill have left an indelible mark on the game, inspiring countless athletes worldwide.

 

Brodie's list of accolades include multiple All-American selections, Tewaaraton Award nominations, defensive player/defender of the year awards, PLL and MLL All-Star selections, NLL All Pro selections, All-World Teams, World Lacrosse Championships Best Defenseman awards and was named NLL Rookie of the Year, MLL Rookie of the Year, PLL Teammate Award and had the PLL's LSM of the Year Award named after him. Internationally, he has won two World Lacrosse Championship gold medals, three silver and three World Indoor Lacrosse Championship Gold medals. Brodie holds the all-time records for most career ground balls (PLL/MLL), most career loose balls (NLL), most career Defensive Player of the Year awards, most career games played (PLL/MLL) and most seasons played in a career.

 

As the Athletic Director of The Hill Academy, Brodie has transitioned from being an elite athlete to a visionary educator. Under his guidance, The Hill Academy has become a leading institution for developing student-athletes, seamlessly combining athletic pursuit with academic excellence, and preparing student-athletes for their next highest level of achievement. Brodie's commitment to fostering character, resilience, and teamwork in his students reflects the founding philosophy that “sport is a laboratory for life.”

 

This milestone serves as a testament to Brodie's enduring legacy in the lacrosse world and his unwavering dedication to student-athlete development. His influence at The Hill Academy continues to inspire not only lacrosse players but also athletes across disciplines.
