History in the Making: The Hill Academy to Host First-Ever International Home Games at Its Caledon Campus
Caledon, ON — April 9, 2025 — The Hill Academy, North America's preeminent independent school for student-athletes, is proud to announce a historic first: its Caledon campus will host the institution’s inaugural international home lacrosse games, marking a major milestone for the school, the sport, and the local community.
The action kicks off Friday, April 11 at 4:00 PM on Legacy Field, when The Hill Academy’s powerhouse lacrosse team takes on long-standing rivals Culver Military Academies. The high-octane weekend continues with Culver vs. Western Reserve Academy on Saturday, April 12 at 12:00 PM, and culminates with a Sunday showdown between The Hill Academy and Western Reserve Academy on April 13 at 12:00 PM.
A Legacy of Athletic and Academic Excellence
Founded in 2006, The Hill Academy was established with a bold vision: to become the gold standard in combining elite athletics and character development with academic rigor. That vision now thrives on the school's stunning 134-acre Caledon campus, where purpose-built facilities support the development of world-class student-athletes. With alumni excelling at the NCAA, U Sports, NLL, PLL, and international levels, The Hill Pride has solidified its reputation as a global leader in lacrosse development.
Rivalries That Define a Generation
The upcoming matchup between The Hill Academy and Culver Military Academies is more than a game—it’s a renewal of a transnational rivalry defined by grit, respect, and elite competition. These two programs have long stood at the pinnacle of North American high school lacrosse, and their contests routinely shape national rankings and collegiate recruiting landscapes.
Western Reserve Academy, no stranger to top-tier competition, brings its storied tradition and fiery gameplay to the weekend, ensuring fans are treated to a trifecta of elite-level lacrosse. These three schools not only compete at the highest level but also share a commitment to character, discipline, and holistic athlete development.
More Than Just a Game
“Hosting these international matchups on our home turf is a landmark moment for The Hill,” says Brodie Merrill, Director of Lacrosse. “It represents everything we’ve been building—elite competition, deep-rooted values, and a campus that can now welcome the world.”
The matchup holds a special place for Riley Thompson, who is The Hill Academy's Player Development Program Coordinator and Prep Team Offensive Coordinator, and also happens to be a Culver alumni.
"I truly believe there is no better rivalry in high school lacrosse. Culver (out of rural Indiana) and The Hill are both considered outsiders when they play the top teams in North America" said Thompson. "Both for their entire existence have had to drive countless hours to play the best teams in all the high school “hotbeds”. Both use that as their edge, as a chip on their shoulder, as a point of pride. I could not be more grateful to be a part of this historic matchup once again, in their first ever game hosted at one of their home fields. This is going to be electric."
