Caledon, ON [November 9, 2023] - The Hill Academy, an independent school for dedicated student-athletes, celebrated National Signing Day with 19 commitments to NCAA schools from the Hill Lacrosse and Hill Hockey programs.
National Signing Day opened on November 8th for all NCAA sports other than Football and Basketball, where over 48,000 student-athletes will sign a National Letter of Intent (NLI). The NLI is a binding agreement between the student-athlete and the college, that, when signed, indicates the student-athlete has agreed to attend the chosen college for one academic year and the college has agreed to provide athletic financial aid for one academic year.
"It's so special to see these student-athletes reach their next highest level of achievement" said Riley Thompson, Coach and Player Development Program Coordinator at The Hill Academy. "I applaud their dedication over the years to get to today, and it's even more special that each of them had their families here to celebrate their accomplishments. The job isn't done though, they've put in a lot of hard work to sign up for more hard work. I can't wait to see where this takes them."
For student-athletes at The Hill, National Signing Day represents years of hard work, reaching their own personal next highest level with the commitment through the signing of their NLI. The commitment of these students speaks to their athletic, academic and character development over their years at The Hill Academy.
Through consultation with The Hill's NCAA-knowledgeable guidance and coaching staff, these post-secondary decisions have been made through careful consideration. Student-athletes invited their family and friends to attend a National Signing Day event hosted at The Hill Academy on November 8, 2023.
Throughout the years, The Hill Academy has had over 150 student-athletes receive NCAA scholarships, producing 47 All-Americans and over 100 NCAA team captains. Over 80% of The Hill Academy graduates regularly receive the Ontario Ministry of Education's 'Ontario Scholar' designation (80% or greater in their six best Grade 12 courses).
