Caledon, ON [May 30, 2024] - The Hill Academy, an independent school for dedicated student-athletes, is proud to announce that Erica Evans will be joining The Hill Academy in a coaching and teaching capacity.
Evans comes to The Hill Academy with a wealth of playing and coaching experience. A standout midfielder during her collegiate career with Canisius College and University of Maryland, Evans was a three-time All-American and three-time MAAC Midfielder of the Year, ranking third in scoring in Canisius College history on her way to becoming Canisius' first ever Tewaarton Award semifinalist. Evans earned her undergraduate degree in Physical and Health Education prior to transferring to Maryland to complete her Smith School of Business Master of Science (Supply Chain Management). Returning from injury, Evans led the Maryland Terrapins to their 14th NCAA Championship, tying for the team lead in goals scored with 59.
As a Canadian International, Evans has represented Canada at all major competitions with great success including; 2015 FIL U-19 Women's World Lacrosse Championship (Gold), 2017 FIL World Cup (leading scorer), 2017 World Games (Silver), 2022 Women's World Lacrosse Championship (Silver) and the 2022 World Games debut of Sixes (Gold).
Evans’ extensive expertise and insight in all disciplines of lacrosse (box, field, sixes), were instrumental in her ascension up the coaching ranks at Trent University from Assistant Coach to Head Coach, leading the team to back-to-back OUA Championships along the way. As a member of the Ontario College of Teachers, Evans’ contributions will come on both the lacrosse field and in the classroom.
Evans’ coaching philosophy emphasizes resilience, teamwork, and a winning mentality, values she has cultivated through her extensive experience as both a player and a coach. She is passionate about developing young athletes and helping them achieve their full potential on and off the field.
“The Hill Academy is excited to welcome Erica Evans to our community,” said Brodie Merrill, Director of Athletics. “Her experience, dedication, and vision align perfectly with our mission to nurture the next generation of student-athletes. We are confident that Erica will elevate our girls lacrosse program to new heights.”
Erica Evans will continue to compete professionally in the Athletes Unlimited Pro Lacrosse league, pursue future gold medals with Lacrosse Canada's National Team and will join The Hill Academy for the 2024-25 academic year. The Hill Academy will be fielding both a Junior School and a Senior School Girls Lacrosse Team.
